Talon Performance Group

What is not being seen can profoundly affect what is possible.

Talon helps individuals and organizations see their situations more fully, understand the consequential factors at work and what they mean, make better-informed choices, bring needed capabilities and resources into play, and carry those choices through action, learning, and adaptation.

✳
A fuller picture

Progress can change when the picture changes.

Strategy, expertise, capability, effort, and execution matter. But they do not operate in isolation.

What people and organizations see, understand, decide, and do can also be shaped by assumptions, relationships, roles, priorities, resources, constraints, history, patterns, and other consequential influences.

Some are obvious. Others may be sensed but unnamed, visible but misinterpreted, individually known but never considered together, normalized over time, underestimated, or simply not yet recognized.

Talon helps bring more of that picture into view, examine what matters and what it means, and strengthen the foundation from which judgment, decisions, and action proceed.

Alignment Intelligence

Developing a better-supported understanding before deciding what happens next.

Talon uses Alignment Intelligence to describe a sufficiently developed, evaluated understanding of what is affecting a situation, made useful for decision.

It brings together what is known, what is inferred, what remains uncertain, and what may not yet have been adequately recognized or accounted for. The purpose is not to claim certainty, but to develop a fuller and better-supported understanding before deciding what matters and what should happen next.

Alignment Intelligence is also a capability: the ability of an individual, team, or organization to develop, evaluate, update, and use that understanding as circumstances change, decisions are made, actions are taken, and new information emerges.

Two ways into the work

For individuals and organizations facing consequential questions.

For Individuals

Some consequential questions are personal even when they arise at work.

Where am I going? What is no longer fitting? What am I capable of that I am not fully using? What may be shaping a choice that I have not yet fully understood?

Talon helps individuals see the situation more fully, understand what matters and what it means, and make choices they can carry into action.

For Organizations

Capable people and sound plans do not always produce the progress expected.

Talon works alongside leaders not only to understand the situation, but to understand their understanding of it.

That means examining how the picture has been formed—what is seen, assumed, interpreted, connected, overlooked, or held apart—and then bringing relevant factors into fuller view to understand what they mean and what they may suggest about what should happen next.

Methods & tools

Different questions call for different ways of seeing.

Talon draws on different methods to help people and organizations surface, organize, examine, and make sense of information that may matter to the situation. The method depends on the question. No single tool is treated as a privileged source of truth; each can contribute a different perspective to a fuller understanding.

The Circle Tool

A facilitated visual method for bringing the elements of a complex situation into view together.

Constellation Work

A spatial and experiential method for exploring relationships and dynamics within a family, business, team, or organizational system. What emerges is treated as information to consider, question, and integrate—not as proof or unquestionable truth.

Insights Discovery

A practical framework for understanding communication and behavioral preferences. It can help individuals and teams better understand themselves, one another, and how those preferences may affect communication, working relationships, and decisions.

These methods can contribute to Alignment Intelligence by helping develop a richer, more examined understanding of the situation. They are not Alignment Intelligence themselves.

Unplayed Potential

Potential does not have to be missing to be unavailable.

Capabilities, knowledge, creativity, experience, relationships, resources, and possibilities may already be present without being fully recognized, connected, expressed, or brought into use.

Talon calls this unplayed potential—what is already present or possible, but not yet fully available for what matters now.

Jodi Standke explores this idea more deeply in Unplayed Potential, including how what people see and understand can affect the choices they recognize and the possibilities they are able to bring into play.

Experience

Experience built over time.

The work that became Talon began in 1999, when Jodi Standke founded Legal Liaisons, Ltd. as an executive-search firm serving the legal industry. As the work expanded beyond recruiting into development, leadership, and broader organizational questions, the business evolved into Talon Performance Group in 2008.

Today, Talon brings that accumulated experience to coaching, consulting, recruiting, leadership development, and distinctive methods for examining complex situations.

Talon is founder-led. Jodi remains the principal professional behind the firm’s work, bringing perspective developed across those different settings into the continuing development and application of Talon’s approach.
