UNPLAYED POTENTIAL ASSESSMENT

Where might potential be going unplayed?

About the Assessment

The Unplayed Potential Assessment is designed to help you look more closely at a situation where the results are not fully reflecting the capability you believe is present.

The assessment contains 16 questions and takes only a few minutes to complete. You will use the same real situation throughout.

Your responses are considered through four areas of inquiry—Assessment, Discovery, Clarification, and Action—to identify the area, or combination of areas, where closer attention may be most useful.

Your result will include an interpretation of the pattern in your responses and questions you may want to examine next.

This is a reflective assessment. It does not diagnose the situation or prescribe an answer.

How to Take It

Think of one specific situation in your life, leadership, team, or organization where the results are not fully reflecting the capability you believe is present.

Choose something real, current, and consequential enough to matter. Bring to mind a recent moment that made the gap apparent—a meeting that went differently than expected, a decision that remains unresolved, a problem that returned, an initiative that stalled, a conversation that did not produce movement, or a result that fell short despite serious effort.

Picture the situation as concretely as you can: what happened, who was involved, what decisions were made or avoided, what actions followed, and what happened next.

Keep that same situation in mind throughout the assessment.

Answer from what is actually happening now—not from intentions, explanations, or what you believe should be happening.

There are no right or wrong answers.
